The Windows Preinstallation Environment (WinPE) is widely used by IT professionals in Windows environments for installation tasks, deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and recovery.
Customers using PGP Desktop 10.0.x or 10.1.x please see TECH149634 which provides instructions for creating a 32-bit Windows Preinstallation Environment. While you can use the 32-bit Windows PE disk on a 64-bit system, you cannot create a 64-bit Windows PE disk on these versions.
Customers using Symantec Encryption Desktop 10.3.x please see TECH200751 which provides instructions for creating 32-bit and 64-bit Windows Preinstallation Environments.
Please download the Technical Document below for instructions on how to create a WinPE disk with PGPWDE tools included.
The following downloads are the PGP WinPE tools necessary for creation of WinPE environments with Symantec Drive Encryption drivers installed. Be sure to use the correct version of PGPpe for the version of Symantec Encryption Desktop. Using tools from a different version may cause drive corruption and or inability to use the tools on the drive.
Note: PGP Desktop 10.2.0 MP2 and PGP Desktop 10.2.1 MP4 were limited to Mac OS X versions only.
The instructions in the guides for customizing the BartPE or BartPE-based tools was a feature that worked in early versions of Symantec Drive Encryption, but have not been supported for versions 9.12 and beyond and are no longer supported.
