SMP report results are restricted to 50,000 rows

Issue/Introduction

When running reports from the Symantec Management Platform (SMP) Console, the reports only return 50,000 rows by default even when many more rows are expected.

Cause

By default all reports have a configured limit to return only 50,000 rows. This is by design and is to protect the Symantec Management Platform from reports that might otherwise slow down performance significantly, or even crash the Symantec Management Platform if the reports are poorly written (such as custom reports). 

Significant internal testing and customer feed-back has shown that this 50,000 row limit is ideal, and generally should not to be altered without extreme caution.

Resolution

There is a Core Setting value that can be used to increase this 50,000 row limit, and it is "ReportMaxRowCount".

For version 8.5 and later, the requested changes could be made to the Core Settings in the SMP Console at:

Settings menu > Notification Server > Core Settings
