Issue/Introduction

Wirelessly connected devices that use the USB over Ethernet protocol are not able to communicate with the Network Threat Protection (NTP) component of Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) installed.

Cause

USB over Ethernet devices use Ethernet type 0x892e packets to communicate with their host device over the network. The SEP client's NTP firewall does not have a rule to allow these packets by default.

Resolution

Create an NTP firewall rull to allow Ethernet type 0x892e packets.
