Users of Symantec Drive Encryption may experience difficulties installing the Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) client on computers with encrypted hard disks.
As noted in the Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 release notes, PGP users may experience difficulties in installing SEP client on computers with encrypted hard disks.
When encountering these SEP installation difficulties, the installation process of SEP will fail and will rollback, preventing a successful upgrade to SEP 12.1.
This issue is fixed in the current shipping version of SEP 12.1 and Symantec Drive Encryption 10.2.1 Build 4461 and above.
It has been noted that decrypting the hard drives of these affected systems may be necessary if running the older versions of the Symantec Drive Encryption client. While decryption of the hard drive is an effective workaround, it is not be necessary if running Symantec Drive Encryption 10.2.1 Build 4461 and above.
