Issue/Introduction

After assigning a package with only Antivirus and Antispyware, Advanced Download Protection, and Sonar to a group, the clients receive an error after the install that Download insight is malfunctioning.

Download Insight Is malfunctioning.

Download Insight is not functioning correctly due to an intrusion prevention component.

Cause

Auto-upgrade does not include definitions as part of the upgrade process. This is typically not an issue because the client will automatically download all required content after the installation has completed. If Intrusion Prevention Signature (IPS) content is disabled within the Liveupdate Content Policy though, Download Insight will display an error.

Resolution

Enable IPS content within the Liveupdate Content Policy

  1. Login to the SEPM
  2. Click on Policies
  3. Select Liveupdate under Policies
  4. In the right window pane, select the Liveupdate Content tab
  5. Edit the appropriate Liveupdate Content Policy
  6. Under Windows Settings, select Security Definitions
  7. Place a check mark next to Intrusion Prevention Signatures to enable this content type
  8. Click OK
