Issue/Introduction
Need to export an unmanaged Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) client from the SEP Manager.
Resolution
Logon to the SEP Manager.
Select the Admin Tab
Select Install Packages option.
Right-click on the preferred client package and version, then select Export.
For Windows client(s) go to section 5. For Mac OS Agent(s) go to section 6. For Linux Agent(s), use the SEP Linux Packager Tool (seplpkg).
Windows Client package export. The Export Package window will open. Select the appropriate settings as noted below. a. Browse to a local directory to identify where to save the package. b. Under Version Selection, select the build of the package you would like to install. c. Under Installation Features and Settings, select the security features you would like to install. d. Under Installation Settings for this package, select the option as per your preference. e. Below the Installation Features and Settings option is the checkbox to Include virus definitions in the client installation package. f. Select Policy Mode (Computer Mode or User Mode) g. Under Export Settings select the Export an unmanaged client option and uncheck the Export packages with the policies from the following groups option, then move to step 7.
Mac Client package. The Export Package window will open. Select the appropriate settings as noted below. a. Browse to a local directory to identify where to save the package. b. Under Upgrade Settings, select whether to maintain logs, policies, and client-server communications settings or to remove previous logs, policies, and communications settings. c. Under Group Membership select the Export an unmanaged client option, then move to step 7.
