Create an Unmanaged client from within the Endpoint Protection Manager

Need to export an unmanaged Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) client from the SEP Manager.


  1. Launch and logon to the SEP Manager.
  2. Go to the Admin pane, at the bottom.
  3. Click on Install Packages, at bottom left.
  4. Right-click on the client package and version that is appropriate for your needs, then select Export. Packages include:
    • 32- or 64-bit Windows client
    • RPM or DPKG Linux client
    • Mac OS X client
  5. The Export Package window will open. Select the appropriate settings as noted below.
    • Browse to a local directory to save the package.
    • Under Installation Settings, select Default client installation settings.
    • Under Security Features, select the feature set you would like to install.
    • Directly below the Security Features drop down menu is the checkbox to Include virus definitions in the client installation package.
    • Set Policy Mode (i.e. Computer or User)
    • Under Export Settings select the Export an unmanaged client option and uncheck the Export packages with the policies from the following groups option.
  6. Click OK
