Datacom DATACOM - AD

Issue/Introduction

The Datacom/AD and Datacom/DB products are very similar, and use most of the same program code, but there are certain restrictions on Datacom/AD and different procedures. Consequently, it is important to know which product you are using, and it is also very useful to know the version of the software running in the MUF.

Is there an easy way to know whether I am running Datacom/AD or  Datacom/DB, and to know which version of the software is running?

Resolution

To help you better understand your environment, there are a few different messages that you can use to find out the version and product you are using.

  • DB00215I - CA Datacom/DB Version 15.1 (15.07)
This indicates that the product is at the version 15.07 level
  • DB00212I - Datacom SQL Version 15.1 (15.07)
If using the SQL function, this tells the same thing.
  • DB00905I - DIRECTORY (CXX) LEVEL 1 AD SIMPLIFY YES SYSPLEX
    plex-name

This message is very useful to give a lot of information about the system. Here, you see that the CXX is also at 15.1, that it is a Level 1 CXX, that it is for Datacom/AD, that it uses Simplify (required for Datacom/AD), and that the SYSPLEX name in use is plex-name.
  • DB00201I - MULTI-USER ENABLED, CXX=DRF1MUF  MUFNAME=DRF1MUF   AD
This message is the key to know when the MUF is up and ready for work. It also tells you the CXXname, MUFname, and whether it is for Datacom/DB or Datacom/AD.
