Issue/Introduction

A daily alert notification is being sent by the Symantec Messaging Gateway (SMG) that states "New virus filters are available on the following hosts".

Cause

The purpose of the notification is to inform the recipient that new virus filters are available, this is as the setting has been configured in the alert settings. 

Resolution

To turn off the notification, login to the control center as admin, and do the following:

1. In the Control Center, click Administration tab.
2. In the left pane click on Alerts.
3. Click on the filters tab.
4. Disable "Uncheck the Alert for new virus filters are available".
5. Click Save.
