Issue/Introduction

An error on the Reporting tab of Symantec Encryption Management Server displays an error associated with the Verified Directory Signing Key.

The Verified Directory is not Configured properly. Please import a Verified Directory Signing Key.

Cause

This is caused by a signing key to be needing to be assigned to the Verified Directory.

Resolution

Please take a valid backup of the Organization key before making any changes

If you have a key-pair to use for this service, go into Keys > Organization and import it to the Verified Directory Key by clicking the up-arrow icon in the Verified Directory Key section near the bottom.

Otherwise, you can use the Organization Key for a work-around:

1. Click the error code link, or go to Keys > Organization Keys.

2. Click the bolded words "Organization Key" and in the new window click the [Export....] button.

3. Select Export Key-pair and create a passphrase.

4. Click Export and save to a folder.

5. Back in Keys > Organization Keys, click the up-arrow icon in the Verified Directory Key section.

6. Browse to the previously exported key file and input the passphrase you just created when asked.

This will apply the key to the Verified Directory service and will function normally.
