You need to execute a task as root user on a Symantec Messaging Gateway (SMG) appliance.
As per Broadcom Policy, this is not supported and also not recommended. Any non-admin level access or modifications, if not performed by Symantec support to resolve technical problems, take the appliance out of full support. If an appliance is not under full support, Messaging Gateway Support can require a customer to restore the appliance to its unmodified state before providing any additional support.
