User Account Control
Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?
Program name: Symantec Endpoint Protection
Verified publisher: Symantec Corporation
File origin: Hard drive on this computer
This issue can also occur when using the remote console:
The SEP tray icon does not run using Administrative privileges because that level of access is not required to show client status. When opening the the full client user interface (from the system tray icon or from the Start menu) Administrative privilege is required and UAC prompts accordingly.
The UAC prompt is a security feature of the Windows operating system. The SEP client interface is designed to comply with Microsoft's guidelines for UAC prompting.
UAC can be configured to no longer prompt when software requires Administrative privileges to access portions of the operating system; however, Symantec recommends leaving this behavior at the default setting.
