Issue/Introduction

This article describes what is contained in the recovery file for Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM).

Resolution

The recovery file is a .ZIP file that contains several files that are required to restore client communication. If you need to reinstall the SEPM, you can point the Management Server Configuration Wizard to this file and it will automatically restore the required information.

The primary contents of the recovery file are:

• The server private key (The tomcat keystore)
• The server private key password (to unlock the tomcat keystore)
• The DomainID
• The Apache SSL keys
• Configured TCP port numbers

By default, the recovery file is located at:

C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Server Private Key Backup

Notes:

• The Management Server Configuration Wizard defaults to the path indicated above when you elect to recover the SEPM.
• The paths in the attached screen shots may not reflect the default paths; however, the file contents are correctly shown.
