Naming convention for statically named virus definition update files

Issue/Introduction

Symantec Security Response has updated the file naming conventions that are used for the statically named Intelligent Updater (IU) packages that are posted to the publicly accessible folders. This update effects both Rapid Release and Certified IU packages.

Resolution

The statically named virus definition update files are often used when customers write scripts to automatically download the virus definitions. These virus definition files are located on our public folders in the following locations:

• Certified definitions (Intelligent Updaters)    https://definitions.symantec.com/defs/download/symantec_enterprise/static/index.html
• Rapid Release definitions   https://definitions.symantec.com/defs/download/symantec_enterprise/rapidrelease/sequence/index.html

Notes:

• On January 13, 2020 Norton links for definition content were replaced with the symantec_enterprise root
