CCS job fails with error message: "An error occurred in Data activity: Unable to retrieve list of Assets from ADAM..."

An Evaluation job or Data Collection Job fails with one of the error messages below:
"An error occurred in Data activity: Unable to retrieve list of Assets from ADAM. No assets were resolved from the directory either due to insufficient permissions or invalid job definition."
or
"An error occurred in Data collection activity: Unable to retrieve list of Assets from ADAM: No Assets were resolved from the directory, either due to insufficient permissions or an invalid job definition"

All supported versions of CCS.

Cause
The asset group selected to run the DC/CER/Evaluation against has no assets imported, or you are running a standard against a CCS Dynamic group and there are no assets of that type in that group, or the assets are missing the OS details.
Resolution
Verify that there are assets in the folders/asset groups that have OS details that match the standard being used in data collection.
In the case with Dynamic groups, make sure there are assets of the correct type for the Standard in the Dynamic group before running the Data Collection job.
If you are initially importing assets via "Add Assets" or through a CSV file, then most likely the OS details are missing.
Run a second asset import job, targeting the newly imported assets via Network for example.
