Issue/Introduction

After rebooting when installing a managed PGP Desktop client, you receive the following error:

PGP is unable to open your keyring files at the specified locations. The files may be missing..

Resolution

This error can occur when the internal user policy is configured to use the option to Override default keyring locations: for key storage and a Active Directory domain policy denies user access to the My Documents folder.

PGP Desktop requires temporary access to the user's My Documents folder on the system during enrollment of the client. To resolve this issue, temporarily grant user access to the My Documents folder on the system when installing the PGP Desktop client. After instaling and sucessfully enrolling the user, the user keyrings will be directed to the location specified in the Override default keyring location: on the PGP Universal Server.
