This article contains a Technical Note which details using PGP Desktop and PGP Whole Disk Encryption in a Windows Preinstallation Environment.
The Windows Preinstallation Environment (WinPE) is widely used by IT professionals in Windows environments for installation tasks, deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, recovery, and so on.
The Technical Note provides instructions for creating a 32-bit Windows Preinstallation Environment. While you can use the 32-bit Windows PE disk on a 64-bit system, you cannot create a 64-bit Windows PE disk on a 32-bit OS.
The instructions in the guides for customizing the BartPE or BartPE-based tools was a feature that worked in early versions of Symantec Drive Encryption, but have not been supported for versions 9.12 and beyond and are no longer supported.
The Customizing the Windows Preinstallation Environment Technical Note and the associated PGPPE tools can be downloaded below.
Note: For PGP Desktop 10.2.x WinPE files, see the following article: www.symantec.com/docs/TECH188300
