When installing PGP Universal Server 3.x or Symantec Encryption Management 3.3.0 (formerly PGP Universal Server) and above on VMware you receive the following error and setup cannot continue.
Could not allocate requested partitions:
Partitioning failed: Could not allocate partitions as primary partition for /boot.
This error occurs when the VMware instance is configured to use the BusLogic SCSI Adapter for the virtual machine. PGP Universal Server 3.x and Symantec Encryption Management Server 3.3.0 and above do NOT support using the BusLogic SCSI Adapter in a VMware virtual machine.
