Issue/Introduction

This article details how to encrypt messages when using Outlook Web Access.

Resolution

Outlook Web Access is not supported using the PGP Messaging Proxy. However, you can use PGP Tray to manually encrypt the text of your message prior to sending it.

To encrypt and sign email manually:

  1. Open Outlook Web Access and compose your email message as you normally would.
  2. When you have finished composing the text of your email message, click the PGP Tray icon.
  3. Select Current Window, then click Encrypt, Sign, or Encrypt & Sign. The PGP Desktop -Key Selection Dialog screen is displayed.
  4. Drag or double-click users to add user keys to the Recipients list.
  5. Click OK and enter the passphrase for your key when prompted.

Note: You are not prompted to enter your passphrase if your passphrase is cached.

Encrypted text appears in the email message window.

  6. Send your message as you normally do.

If you have a copy of the public keys for every one of the recipients, the appropriate keys are automatically used and the message is sent.
