Issue/Introduction


The PGP Mail plug-in is no longer supported. While the plug-in may continue to work, its use is highly discouraged. PGP Messaging services continue to provide superior support for email security.

 

Caution: There are two different versions of the PGP Mail plug-in depending on the version of Mac OS X you are running.


 

Resolution

Download the plugins from the attachment section below and then use the following installation instructions.

Installation
If you would like to continue using the unsupported PGP Mail plug-in, you will need to install it manually. Please follow the steps below for the version of Mac OS X you are running.

Mac OS X 10.4:

 

  1. Copy PGPmail.mailbundle to /Library/Mail/Bundles (It may be necessary to create this directory).
  2. From Terminal, enter the following text on the command line:

    defaults write com.apple.mail EnableBundles -bool YES
     
  3. If Mail was open, quit and relaunch.

Mac OS X 10.5:

 

  1. Copy PGPmailLeopard.mailbundle to /Library/Mail/Bundles (It may be necessary to create this directory)
  2. From Terminal, enter the following text on the command line:

    defaults write com.apple.mail BundleCompatibilityVersion 3

    defaults write com.apple.mail EnableBundles -bool true

     
  3. If Mail was open, quit and relaunch

 

Caution: The PGP Mail plug-in is not supported in Mac OS X 10.6.
