Issue/Introduction

Issue

When using PGP Whole Disk Encryption as a Single Sign-On user, after successfully authenticating the passphrase at the PGP BootGuard screen, Windows displays a mpnotify.exe. After clicking OK or Cancel, Windows continues to boot.

Resolution

This issue is caused by the connection order of Network Providers on the system. The Provider Order in the Advanced Settings of Network Connections determines how the system accesses information on the network. The mpnotify.exe error occurs if the PGP Network Provider connection is listed below another third-party connection when using the Single Sign-On feature of PGP Whole Disk Encryption.

This issue has been corrected in versions of PGP Desktop 9.7 and above.

Workaround

For versions of PGP Desktop 9.6.x, use the follwing steps to resolve the mpnotify.exe error.

  1. Right-click My Network Places and select Properties.
  2. From the menu, click Advanced and then click Advanced Settings.
  3. Click the Provider Order tab.
  4. Click the PGPpwflt entry in the list and then click the Up arrow to move the PGP connection above any other third party connections.
  5. Click OK
