Issue/Introduction

When you attempt to do any of the following in Windows Explorer, the PGP Software Development Kit Service crashes:

  • right-click on a file
  • right-click on a folder
  • right-click on a drive
  • delete a file
  • delete a folder

When the crash occurs, the following error message appears:

Resolution

Cause

This particular crash can occur anytime after the PGP Software Development Kit service (named PGPserv in the list of Windows services) has been stopped and restarted--even if the service has been stopped and restarted safely.

Workaround(s)

There are presently two known workarounds for this issue:

  1. To prevent the crash from occurring, do not intentionally stop or restart the PGPserv service.

  2. If the crash is occurring as described in the synopsis above, restart your computer.
