How to return Symantec Web Gateway (SWG) appliance to factory default settings

Issue/Introduction

You seek to return SWG appliance to its factory default settings either to repair a mis-configuration, or as a troubleshooting step.

Resolution

To return to factory default setting in the UI, regardless of SWG hardware model

1. Click Administration> Configuration
2. Click Maintenance.
3. To the right of "Restore Default Settings", click Restore.

 

To restore factory default settings for SWG8450 or SWG8490 hardware

1. Download the osrestore disks from https://fileconnect.symantec.com
2. Burn the disks to physical media
3. Insert the first disk in the DVD drive of the SWG8450 or SWG8490 appliance
4. Restart the appliance
