Issue/Introduction

Trying to forward Inventory to an AMS/Reporting Server. The Inventory replication jobs are pending on the reporting NS. The logs report "A non-fatal exception occurred during replication. The replication job will be restarted from the last checkpoint. Exception: ... The remote server does not appear to be responding (Server: . The request failed with Http Status 401: Unauthorized.

Description: A non-fatal exception occured during replication. The replication job will be restarted from the last check point. (JobID: 4d9bbb57-ce49-49b0-8143-7208f907c842, Exception: Altiris.NS.Exceptions.AeXException: The remote server does not appear to be responding (Server: **) ---> System.Net.WebException: The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.

Cause

Unknown. The replication rule is configured to use the same Application Identity account which is a domain account. However, both NSs are in different domains.

Resolution

Create local admin account on both NS's. Make sure these accounts are members of the Symantec Administrators group. If they aren't, the AMS server will report a "Read" error when attempting to import the data. Use the local admin accounts on both servers for the cridentials in the replication job.
