Issue/Introduction

Does Symantec support running Symantec Scan Engine (SSE) or Protection Engine (SPECS) on Xen, Hyper-V, and/or Vmware?

Resolution

Symantec Scan Engine and Protection Engine will be supported on VMware, as long as the Operating System used is supported by the Symantec Scan Engine or Protection Engine product.
A list of supported Operating Systems can be found in the Implementation Guide for the product and TECH123321.

Xen and Hyper-V are supported starting with Symantec Protection Engine 7.5.0.

Please note that Symantec does not support these virtualization products, and all questions regarding virtualization should be deferred to each vendor.

SSE or Protection Engine (SPECS) running on officially supported OS, under Vmware, Xen, or Hyper-V environment.
