Issue/Introduction

The Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) collector is not able to fetch data from the SEP sybase database

 

 

 You see the following error in the symcepstate.log file located in the [install folder]\Symantec\Event Agent\logs:

ERROR 2010-12-01 16:00:00,690 Collectors.3293.wGroup.[workinggroup0].Sensor.[Sensor_0] Thread-449576 Cannot create connection to database(URL: jdbc:sybase:Tds:localhost:2638). Reason: JZ00L: Login failed.  Examine the SQLWarnings chained to this exception for the reason(s).
ERROR 2010-12-01 16:00:00,690 Collectors.3293.wGroup.[workinggroup0].SensorThread Thread-449576 Sensor thread [Sensor 0] failed to open device.

Cause

There appears to be corruption with the configuration and sensor file preventing the credentials from being properly applied.

Resolution

Disable the old sensor and remove the computer from the old configuration file.

Create a new configuration file and new sensor then distribute the configuration, it should work fine.
