Issue/Introduction

You want to execute a Symantec Ghost Console task on a Microsoft Windows 7 client computer. You need to know versions of Windows 7 the Symantec Ghost Console client can be installed on.

You need to know if your version of Microsoft Windows 7 is supported for installation of the Symantec Ghost Console and Standard Tools.

Resolution

 

Only Symantec Ghost Solution Suite 2.5.1.2266 and later can be installed on Microsoft Windows 7.

The following versions of Microsoft Windows are supported for use with the Symantec Ghost Console Client, and Symantec Ghost Console and Standard Tools:

• Windows 7 Ultimate
• Windows 7 Professional
• Windows 7 Enterprise

The Symantec Ghost Console client, and Symantec Ghost Console and Standard Tools are not supported and should NOT be installed on the following versions of Windows 7:

• Windows 7 Home Basic
• Windows 7 Home Premium

Note: Windows 7 Home Basic Premiunm can be imaged with Symantec Ghost but you must use physical boot media to boot the computers into Symantec Ghost.
