Issue/Introduction

You want to change the configuration of the Symantec LiveUpdate but the icon for it in the Control Panel is missing.

The Symantec LiveUpdate installation directory is present and the LiveUpdate is working fine.

You are able to launch the LuConfig.exe from the Installation Directory but still you want to see the icon in the Control Panel

This Tech Solution will also work for the following issue

You can see the LiveUpdate icon in the Control Panel and the LiveUpdate installation directory is present but you are unable to launch the LiveUpdate Configuration Utility from the Control Panel

No apparent error shows.

The icon is just missing or you deleted it.

The icon is present but when you click on it nothing happens.

Resolution

  1. Go to C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate
  2. Copy S32LUCP2.CPL
  3. Got to %Systemroot%\System32
  4. Paste S32LUCP2.CPL
  5. Log-off the current Windows user
  6. Log-in again and check that in the Control Panel the LiveUpdate Icon is present
    • If still not available please check Windows Registry
      • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\don't load\     may contain a String (Reg_SZ) with value S32LUCP2.CPL

      • If so please remove the String or all the "don't load" key from the registry. (Please make sure you did a backup of the registry before any editing)
