System Update Status hung showing "An update is in progress" after installing onbox collector and you are not able to install any collector after this

Issue/Introduction

You have installed an onbox collector which got installed and worked fine but on the Web configuration interface ("Maintenance-> System Updates") under "Status" it shows "An update is in progress" and if you try to install any other collector you get Error " A package update is already in progress. Please try again later". You have also tried rebooting the appliance but the status is still showing update in progress.

"An update is in progress" on Status page and Error  A package update is already in progress. Please try again later" if you try to install another collector.

Cause

There is a lock file in /opt/Symantec/update folder which is not deleted after the update is finished.

Resolution

1. log into SSIM using putty or other ssh client as db2admin

 2. su to root user

3. do cd /opt/Symantec/updates

4. type command  rm -f update.lck

5. Restart all the SSIM services.
