An error occurred constructing the tree from the XML provided by the server

Issue/Introduction

I receive the following error:

'An error occurred constructing the tree from the XML provided by the server: An error occurred retrieving the tree XML from the server. Undefined.'

Cause

Unknown. Possible corruption of ActiveX components or Permissions to write ActiveX components into the computer.

Resolution

Here are some suggestions for getting this issue resolved:

1. Locate the following files ('C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files' or from IE Browser window  'Tools > Internet Options > General tab > Temporary Internet files section > Settings button > View Objects'), make a copy and place them in a different location as backup, and then delete them from the referenced location:

Note! The deleted files will be re-created when you enter the NS Console.

2. If this does not work, run a repair of the NS Server, All solutions, and any installed hotfixes from Add or Remove Programs. Please avoid terminal services or using the /Console switch for the repairs.

Note! Make a backup of your Altiris database first as a precaution.
