Unmanaged SEP client is not updating virus definitions. Error 0x802A0044

Issue/Introduction

SEP client stopped updating virus definitions. When LiveUpdate is ran, it says the software is already up to date.

Log.Liveupdate

Only the LiveUpdate command lines were registered in the Product.Inventory.LiveUpdate file.
Integrity check of the newly saved product inventory failed with error code=0x802A0044.

Cause

What has most likely occurred is some corruption within the Product Inventory, so LiveUpdate does not know what to download.

Resolution

1. Uninstall LiveUpdate.

2. Delete the liveupdate folder that is under application data\symantec

3. Reinstall LiveUpdate

4. Run a repair install of SEP

5. Any other Symantec software on the computer will have to be reregistered with LiveUpdate.
