Issue/Introduction

After the uninstall of Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange via Add/Remove programs in control panel, the resource is still present.

When the cluster administrator is opened an error 5079 pops up.

Error ID 5079 (000013d7)

An error occurred attempting to read properties for the "Symantec mail Security for Microsoft Exchange" resource type.

The specified node does not support a resource of this type. This may be due to version inconsistencies or due to the absence of the resource DLL on this node.

Cause

The uninstallation of SMSMSE has not been completed correctly.

Resolution

Delete the SMSMSE resource by issuing the following commands:

cluster resource "<name of SMSMSE cluster resource>" /delete  

Run the command regsvr32 /<path to clusterresource.dll>

cluster restype "Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange" /delete /type

After rebooting the Node it is necessary to recreate the Cluster Resource in Cluster Manager.
