Description: Error while downloading package: No connection to server (-2147467259)

Cause

There are two possible causes for this issue:

1) There are a number of connections that have been cached.

2) Active Server Pages are prohibited within IIS on the package server.

Resolution

For possible cause #1, a reboot of the package server should resolve the issue.  Rebooting the package server resets all connections to it and the package server becomes usable.

Note: Performing an iisreset might also do the trick without performing a reboot.

For possible cause #2, ensure Active Server Pages are allowed within IIS on the Package Server.  When Active Server Pages are disabled on the package server, GetPackageSnapShot.asp requests made by the Altiris Agent to the package server will fail with a 404 error.  You can review the IIS logs on the package server to see if this is the case.

To allow Active Server Pages within IIS 6, open the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager and browse to the Web Service Extensions folder.  If the status for Active Server Pages is "Prohibited", simply right-click it and select the option to allow.  A restart of the IIS services may be required.
