Issue/Introduction

Can Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) Sites replicate when they are using different database types?

Resolution

SEPM replication is handled directly by the SEPM servers and does not rely on the database server's built-in replication functionality. Replication can be configured between sites running any supported version of Microsoft SQL or the embedded Sybase SQL Anywhere database.

Note: There are no size limitations on the embedded Sybase SQL Anywhere database, however the performance and efficiency of a Microsoft SQL database can allow it to scale to larger capacities than the embedded database. Use caution when replicating a very large Microsoft SQL database backed site and ones backed by the embedded database.
