Issue/Introduction

This documents contains the Release Notes for Symantec Protection for SharePoint Servers 5.1.

 

Resolution

Symantec Protection 5.1.6 for SharePoint Servers (SPSS 5.1.7)

Symptom: "Exception from HRESULT: 0x80041054" was getting displayed while accessing SharePoint 2007 Collaboration Portal home pages (default.aspx) if SPSS is down.
Solution:
Fixed.
Note: Note the fix for this problem requires a few additional changes by the Symantec Protection for SharePoint Servers admin.  Please see KB document, www.symantec.com/business/support/index.

Symptom: The Files found and Files scanned results do not match each other after an SPSS manual/scheduled scan.
Solution: Fixed.

 

Symantec Protection 5.1.6 for SharePoint Servers (SPSS 5.1.6)

Symptom: Customers who wanted to 'allow' unscannable in their SharePoint environment were not able to track the unscannable events in an efficient manner due to unavailability of a "Log Only" option.
Solution: Fixed.

Note: There is a User Interface change that was made in 5.1.6.  A radio button for the newly added "Log Only" action on the SPSS Manual/Scheduled scan settings page was added.  Regarding packaging information, again like 5.1.5, there will be two folders.  One folder for SharePoint 2010, "Symantec_Protection_for_SharePoint_Servers_2010", and one folder for SharePoint 2003 and 2007, "Symantec_Protection_for_SharePoint_Servers_2003_and_2007".  Please read the README file that comes with the build of Symantec Protection for SharePoint Servers 5.1.6 that will be used. 
 

 

Symantec Protection 5.1.5 for SharePoint Servers (SPSS 5.1.5)

Symantec Protection 5.1.5 for SharePoint Servers is certified with Microsoft SharePoint 2010.

Note:  For more information about this release, please see Technical Document 142113, www.symantec.com/business/support/index.  Symantec Protection 5.1.5 for SharePoint Servers comes with two builds.  SPSS 5.1.5 is for customers using SharePoint 2010.  The second build is the current SPSS 5.1.4 and is for customers using SharePoint 2003 and 2007.  For customers that currently use SPSS 5.1.x and are moving to SharePoint 2010, first uninstall any previous version of 5.1.x before installing version 5.1.5.

 

Symantec Protection for SharePoint Servers 5.1.4 (5033)

Symptom: When scanning file versions, sometimes a file size mismatch occurs causing an Error, "The scanning process was aborted. Message: Scan Engine: 2".
Solution: Fixed.

Symptom: Manual scanning takes more time when thread is set to 10 compared with 25.
Solution: Fixed.

Symptom: In Windows 2008 64-bit, admins cannot manage Windows Network Connections after installing the Symantec Protection for SharePoint Servers product.
Solution: Fixed.

Symptom: SQL Server Reporting Services Reports are not getting published from SQL Business Intelligence Studio to SharePoint library.
Solution: Fixed.

Notes:

  • Symantec Protection for SharePoint Servers 5.1.4 (5033) was officially certified on SQL Server 2008.
  • SPSS 5.1.4 was certified with Symantec Scan Engine 5.2.8.



Symantec Protection for SharePoint Servers 5.1.3 (5027)

Symptom: Symantec Scan Engine will not be registered automatically under "Symantec Protection 5.1 for SharePoint Servers" console when full install is performed on Windows 2008 Server.
Solution: 1. Navigate to Windows Server Services tab.
2. Manually re-start Symantec Scan Engine Services.
3. From "Symantec Protection 5.1 for SharePoint Servers" console - Register the Symantec Scan Engine.

Notes: Symantec Protection for SharePoint Servers 5.1.3 (5027) was officially certified with Symantec Scan Engine 5.2.4.
