Issue/Introduction

When you try to install JRE 1.5 update 22 on Solaris or Linux platforms using one of the following JRE installers bundled with Symantec Scan Engine (SSE) 5.2.8, installation fails:(1) jre-1_5_0_22-solaris-sparc.sh (2) jre-1_5_0_22-linux-i586-rpm.bin


Symptoms

Installation of jre-1_5_0_22-solaris-sparc.sh on Solaris platform and jre-1_5_0_22-linux-i586-rpm.bin on Linux platform does not complete successfully and you see the following error message:

The download file appears to be corrupted. Please refer to the Troubleshooting section of the Installation Instructions on the download page for more information.
Please do not attempt to install this archive file.

Note: The JRE 1.6 installers and JRE 1.5 installer for Windows (jre-1_5_0_22-windows-i586-p.exe) work fine.

Resolution

Please visit http://www.sun.com and download the latest installer manually.
