Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange (SMSMSE) Administration Console Reports Error Message When Home is Clicked on: The report response is invalid

Issue/Introduction

After opening the SMSMSE Administration console and clicking on the Home icon the following error message is displayed:

The report response is invalid.

The statistics displays zeros and generated reports do not contain any data.

• Windows Application Event Log contains the following error event:

Cause

The database that SMSMSE uses the Microsoft Access engine may not accessible or may be corrupt.

Workaround

Use one of the following workarounds:

• Reset the reporting database.

1. Open the SMSMSE Administration Console. On the primary navigation bar, click Reports.
2. Click Views|Report Settings.
3. Under Tasks, click one of the following:

Reset Auto-Protect statistics
Reset spam statistics
Reset database statistics

This option purges all data from the reports database.

4. Refresh your screen.

 

• Put in place a default reporting database.
