Issue/Introduction

Error starting a pcAnywhere host: "The pcAnywhere host you are attempting to run is configured for caller authentication, but no caller items could be found. You must define at least one caller before you can use the host item"

Cause

You installed pcAnywhere from a pcAnywhere package created with Symantec Packager and did not define a caller.

Resolution

Create a custom caller in pcAnywhere Manager and add the .cif file to the package and rebuild your install package. Custom .cif files can be found at: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\pcAnywhere\hosts.
