The client needs to update the CICS regions CWA with an application date in order to fix a problem. Since this is a production region does the client have to start CA Intertest for CICS in order to use the CORE transaction to alter storage area’s? The client prefers not to start CA Intertest for CICS to use the CORE transaction.

Environment

Z/OS CICS

Resolution

You do not have to start CA Intertest for CICS in production in order to use the CORE transaction to update storage areas. As a test I did the following.

At a clear screen in CICS I entered CNTL and pressed the enter key

CAIN4528 CA InterTest r8.5 is not active in CICS.

CAIN4539 Depress PF3 if you want to start CA InterTest now.

I do a clear key and get message.

CAIN4502 This request disregarded.

This test confirms that CA Intertest is not started at PLT time by CICS or the first user who signs on to CICS and uses the product.

Next at a clear screen in CICS CORE=CSA and then Press PF12 to map the CSA control blocks

Next press the clear key to exit the CORE transaction.

Next CNTL and press enter

CAIN4539 Depress PF3 if you want to start CA InterTest now.
