Mail Security for Domino

Issue/Introduction

Domino crashes and the nsd log shows that nntask exited on an access violation.

Symptoms
When Symantec Mail Security for Domino (SMSDOM) 8.0.x scans a file attachment with a % (percent sign) in the filename, the Domino server crashes.

  • The nsd log that corresponds to the crash shows that the FATAL task was nntask, which exited with an exception code of c0000005 (ACCESS VIOLATION).
  • The smspanic.txt file is blank or contains no text.
  • Debug evidence shows that the filename of the last file SMSDOM scanned before crashing contains a percent sign ('%').

Resolution

This issue has been resolved in version 8.0.3.50 and higher. If you are experiencing this issue, please upgrade to the latest version of Symantec Mail Security for Domino.
