Issue/Introduction

VMWare tools needs to be installed to Symantec Messaging Gateway (SMG)

 

Resolution

There is no need to install VMware tools on SMG. Symantec has embedded VMware Tools driver(s) directly into the operating system.
Updates of VMware tools versions are performed when a new version of SMG is released.

Modifications to the environment that has not been done or authorized by Symantec engineering can potentially cause issues in the environment and could put the appliance out of support until it is re-imaged with a supported build.
