Issue/Introduction

When a Managed Software Delivery task is created with the option "Power on if necessary" enabled a WOL Task will be created and assigned to each resource the policy is targeting. When this policy is deleted the associated WOL Task isn't properly removed leaving orphaned entries.

If you attempt to view one of these WOL Tasks the following error is generated in the Notification Server logs.

( Exception Details: Altiris.NS.Exceptions.AeXException: The specified GUID does not refer to a registered class (GUID:00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000)

Cause

Deletion of the Managed Software Delivery Policy isn't properly removing all associated task entries.

Resolution

The issue is currently being investigated by Symantec.

We will update this Knowledge Base article once a resolution has been created.

Work around:

The attached PurgeWOLTasks script can be used to remove these entries. Simply run the script against your Altiris database (Symantec_CMDB by default).

NOTE: This script hasn't been fully tested by Symantec's testing department. As with any script that makes modifications to the database make sure you have a good backup of the database before running.
