Issue/Introduction

Restart Altiris Agent task fails to complete (return code = 1060). Task Server correctly sends the Restart Altiris Agent task off to the client. However, the agent never starts (Status = Failed) and returns the code = 1060.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Schedule "Restart Altiris Agent"
  2. The client task receives the task and the Altiris Agent logs show …..Task: ‘Restart Altiris Agent’ has started/finished…

Environment

ITMS 7.x - 8.x

Resolution

Workaround:

  1. Create a script task script that spawns a second script. (The script task script does not wait for the completion of the spawned script before returning.)
  2. The second script performs the service restart for 'AeXNSClient'.
