Our Office 2003 SP3 IsInstalled rule agrees with the machines ARP in regards to Office 2003 SP3 being installed, however, our Office 2003 SP1 IsInstalled rule also returns true, meaning that this machine has two different service packs installed.
As this update targets Office 2003 SP3 machines, then MBSA and Microsoft Updates should do this. As you know, error 1642 usually means that the required version of the product cannot be found. This may or may not be caused by having two different service packs installed, however, I have found a similar article concerning this update but for Office XP SP3 which was resolved by reinstall Office as it seemed to be corrupted:
At this stage of the game, I seriously think the customer should contact Microsoft over this issue, as it clearly needs their help because it is their update failing to install onto their Operating System which is running their Office product. Symantec Patch Management is only a detection, delivery and execution system. We cannot be blamed if the update doesn’t install, unless our IsApplicable rules are wrong, but in this case our rules are correct.
