‘Invalid LBAI’ message prevents computer from booting

Issue/Introduction

After power failure or any other unexpected system shutdown, users may see “Invalid LBAI” message when starting a computer and the boot process will stop at this point. Running RSFix utility (AKB6865) does not seem to resolve this issue.

Cause

Loss or serious corruption of Master Boot Record and/or Altiris Parition.

Resolution

To work around this issue, boot a computer from MS-DOS startup disk and execute fdisk /mbr command.


May need to uninstall Bootworks as well.
