Issue/Introduction

Administrators can customize the labels for links displayed in the Identity Manager (IDM) Credential Provider interface, such as "Forgot Password," "Unlock Account," and "New Account." This article describes the configuration steps to modify these labels to meet organizational naming standards.

Environment

Identity Manager

Resolution

To modify the URL labels, edit the dialogs.xml configuration file on the server where the Credential Provider is installed.

  1. Locate the Configuration File: Navigate to the dialogs.xml file. The default installation path is: C:\Program Files\CA\Identity Manager\Credential Provider\dialogs.xml

  2. Edit the Labels:

    • Open dialogs.xml in a text editor with administrative privileges.
    • Locate the section corresponding to the language you wish to modify (e.g., the US English section).
    • Update the text values for the desired labels. For example:
      • Change New Account to Create New Account.
      • Change Forgot Password to Reset Password.
  3. Save and Verify:

    • Save the changes to dialogs.xml.
    • The changes will take effect upon the next Credential Provider refresh or system login.

Note: Ensure the file encoding remains consistent when saving changes to avoid display issues in the Credential Provider UI.
