Deploying an Operating System Image That Contains a Symantec Critical System Protection (SCSP) Agent
Symptoms
Agent is consistently changing/rolling its IP Address.
If the Operating System image contains an SCSP agent that is already registered to the SCSP server and this OS image is deployed, multiple agents would be reporting to the server with the same ID which can result to inconcistent event data.
It is critical that the SCSP agent that is installed on the OS image not be registered with the SCSP server. The proper way to build an OS image with a pre-installed agent is by disconnecting the machine from the network, installing the agent, and then creating the OS image. The SCSP manager assigns the agent id, so preventing the agent connection also prevents the id from being assigned. These instructions can ensure that the agent installed on the image does not have an ID assigned.
