Issue/Introduction

When selecting an XML file while trying to create a New Evaluation within Dashboard, the "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error message appears.

Symptoms
When creating a New Evaluation in Dashboards, an error appears "Object reference not set to an instance of an object".

Cause

Data Location and Windows File Sharing is not established.

Resolution

Follow these steps to setup a Data Location in CCS Reporting & Analytics:
  1. Launch the Reporting & Analytics console.
  2. Click Dashboard > Data > Data Locations, then click New Data Location.
  3. Type a name then select Windows File Share for "Type".
  4. For the Location and Server, choose your Information Server computer where the Windows File Share exists.
  5. For the Location and Share, type the name of the shared directory.
  6. Check Use Integrated Windows authentication to access this data location.
  7. Repeat the steps to create a New Evaluation using Bv-Control query results.
    • NOTE: When choosing Source under the New Evaluation Node, the Location space should already be populated.
  8. Browse to the XML file, then run the Evaluation Job.
