Issue/Introduction
The following error message is displayed during the installation of ECS: Install Support service failed! The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
Symptoms
The Enterprise Configuration Service (ECS) will not install properly on a 64-bit Windows computer by running the Setup.exe from the CCS_DataCollection\Support_Installs\bv_Control_for_Windows\ECS directory of the installation setup files in the following scenarios:
On trying to install ECS directly (through Setup.exe) from the CCS_DataCollection\Support_Installs\bv_Control_for_Windows\ECS directory of the locally mounted disc.
On copying the ECS installable files from the CCS_DataCollection\Support_Installs\bv_Control_for_Windows\ECS directory to the local computer and then trying to install ECS (through Setup.exe).
Resolution
The workaround for the issue is to install ECS through the Configuration Wizard of the bv-Control for Windows node of the RMS console on the Information server.
