Issue/Introduction

Error upgrading or uninstalling: "Fatal error during installation"

Cause

One or more of the installed files have become damaged.

Resolution

You will need to manually remove the current installation of Ghost.
  1. Delete these folders:
    • C:\Program Files\Symantec\Ghost
    • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Ghost.
  2. Run the Microsoft Clean-Up Utility. (For instructions, please see the link to Microsoft below)
  3. Open the Registry and back it up. (For instructions, please see the link to Microsoft below)
  4. Remove HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Ghost.
  5. Reboot the machine.
