Issue/Introduction

This article documents if Symantec Ghost can be used to image or clone Apple computers

Environment

GSS 3.x

DS 8.x

Resolution

Ghost was not designed for use with Apple Macintosh computers. However, you may be able to take / restore an image by means of a sector copy. Use the command line switch -IR . Typically, if Ghost can see the hard disk, then it can image it. Before you can count an image as a success, make sure you can restore it successfully and boot to the OS.

NOTE: GSS 3.x and DS 8.x only support creating/deploying imaged to Windows and Linux and not to Apple Macintosh computers, though there was a period of time when Deployment Solution did support this imaging but it ended in DS 8.6 as per the following documentation Creating and Deploying Mac Images.
